Summary : As a common element for all mobile platforms and browsers, social networks keep drawing the attention of scammers and malware
creators. For desktop systems security products can use filter drivers to block malicious content, but in the
case of social networks most of the time the only feasible solution is a simple warning.
This paper proposes a new API philosophy which would allow third parties to develop security applications for social
networks. In addition, this paper suggests a security API which would permit third parties to develop parental control
applications, as well as to detect and block dangerous phenomena like grooming or cyber bullying, while allowing children
to have access to social networks for educational proposes.
