by Stephan Gerhager, Information security Officer, E.on energie Ag,

Summary : Future smart meters will play a central role in improving communications between utility customers, the Internet, the smart home and the csmart grid”. That makes the meter a very attractive target for lots of different kinds of attackers. In this talk, we will discuss the information security risks which arise out of connecting worlds which hitherto have been strictly separated.
We will also explore the opportunities to minimize these risks by creating an overall information-security architecture for the system. The talk will give special attention to the current security state of the smart grid in Germany, with some additional thoughts from both the utilitys and the CSOs points of view.
