Collaborative Security and the Internet presented at AUScert 2009

by Paul Twomey,

Summary : The Internet's security will be best achieved through multi-stakeholder collaboration in increasing the capacity of those involved in securing Internet systems and those responding to threats. Dr Twomey will address how Internet threats are evolving, how these threats can involve the Domain Name System as target and as enabler, and how ICANN plans to contribute to Internet security, stability and resiliency in responding to emerging challenges.
The presentation will provide an example proactive collaboration by discussing ICANN’s efforts to build distributed capacity for security and resiliency in the Domain Name System; through cooperation with regional organizations and through training for operators of the Top Level Domain operators across the globe. Additionally, Dr Twomey will address how ICANN worked with the security community and DNS community in ensuring effective collaboration in response to the Conficker worm.
