DIY Autonomous Quadcopters using Android ( + Demo Flight! ) presented at Notacon 2014

by Brian Gesler,

Summary : This presentation is about building a quadcopter from the ground up. I will take you through my journey this past winter season of learning about and choosing the hardware, the assembly process, as well as the software and all accessories required. I get into the pros and cons of building a fully autonomous open-source android platform quadcopter verses just buying a ready-to-fly A.R. Drone or DJI Phantom. I will also discuss alternative ways of building a frame, including my next venture — a fully 3D printed quadcopter. Towards the end of the session there will be a flight demo of the DIY quadcopter, and I will also have a smaller quadcopter available that anyone can fly.
