Plenary- Security in a Surveilled World presented at AusCERT 2014

by Edward W. Felten,

Summary : Today we face an unprecedented level of surveillance, both online and offline, and traditional approaches to security seem insufficient against highly capable adversaries. Rather than surrendering to constant surveillance, we need new approaches that narrow the scope of surveillance to those cases where it is really justified, while promoting political accountability for the scope of surveillance. This talk will describe technologies that exist today or are in development to help us limit and govern surveillance.
