It isn't all foggy in the Cloud! Digital Forensic Investigations in the Cloud presented at SourceDublin 2015

by Neha Thethi,

Summary : There is a considerable amount of research being conducted in the area of cloud forensics. The validity and reliability of forensic science is crucial in the context of the cloud and requires new methodologies for identifying, collecting, preserving, and analyzing evidence in multi-tenant cloud environments.
In 2014, the NIST Cloud Computing Forensic Science Working Group (NCC FSWG) identified 65 cloud forensic challenges in a draft document.
However, in the past few years, CSPs have put some measures in place that can be leveraged to assist with digital forensic investigations in the cloud. Moreover, there are steps that customers can take to help with easing out the process of these investigations.
This presentation will outline some of the measures provided by major CSPs that can be leveraged to assist with investigations and and also provide suggestions on how customers can facilitate the investigation process in the cloud environment, thus demonstrating not all is foggy in the cloud!
