Summary : This talk is aimed at addressing the need for intelligent human analysis and the over reliance on tools to provide a silver bullet. The speaker will focus on the need for applying sound scientific principles relating to different analysis methods available to threat intelligence analysts. We will look at analysis of competing hypotheses, social network analysis, and diamond model-kill chain in action. McCabe will leverage some of the technical efforts used at his organization and provide practical application/demonstrations around threat intelligence and threat hunting. He will show how to apply “math” to collected information on the threat actors in his organization’s environment that has helped build a mature threat intelligence program.
